How much do solar panels cost in Mallorca in 2026?

Solar panels installed on the roof of a Mediterranean house

Putting solar panels on your home is one of the decisions that generates the most savings over the long term, but the first question is always the same: how much does it cost. The honest answer is that it depends, and in this article we explain what it depends on so you can form a realistic idea for your own case.

The price range in Mallorca

A residential photovoltaic installation in Mallorca usually costs between 5,000 and 9,800 euros, VAT excluded. The difference is not arbitrary: it reflects the capacity you need, measured in kilowatts (kW). A home with moderate consumption may do fine with a 3 to 4 kW system, while a large house with a pool, air conditioning and an electric vehicle may need 6 kW or more.

As a market reference, the turnkey cost sits between 1,400 and 1,650 euros per installed kW: the larger the system, the lower the price per kW. From there, every element you add moves the budget.

What changes with the 2026-2027 grants

The call published in the official bulletin (BOIB) in July 2026 covers photovoltaics, batteries, aerothermal systems and private EV charging, but it does not treat all applicants equally. Private individuals and self-employed persons acting as individuals cannot apply to the photovoltaic aid in this call. Companies, owner communities and other eligible entities can, under the programme conditions. Check the Balearic energy grants 2026-2027 before making a decision.

For private homeowners, the savings route that does apply is tax-based: municipal IBI and ICIO rebates and the Spanish income tax deduction. We cover them in our municipality-by-municipality guide.

What drives the real price

Four factors explain most of the difference between one quote and another:

  • System size. The more you consume, the more capacity you need and the more panels are installed.
  • Roof type. A pitched roof facing south is the ideal situation. Flat roofs or roofs with obstacles may require additional structures.
  • The battery. Adding home storage lets you use the day’s energy at night, but it adds a few thousand euros to the initial investment.
  • The EV charger. If you charge your car at home, integrating a charger connected to the panels multiplies the savings at a modest added cost.

Savings and production

The price only makes sense alongside what the system produces. In the Balearics, each installed kW generates around 1,550 kWh per year based on PVGIS reference data: a 5 kW system means about 7,800 kWh every year, over a working life of more than 25 years.

A well-sized installation covers a large share of the home’s daytime consumption and noticeably reduces the electricity bill from the first month. With a battery, the share of your own energy you use rises further, because the day’s surplus is used in the evening.

How to know your cost in a minute

Every home is different, and the best way to get an accurate figure is to start from your real data: your island, the square metres of available roof and what you pay for electricity each month. With our configurator you get an estimate of cost, annual savings and production without waiting for any call.

From there, a technical visit confirms the final figure, taking into account the actual roof orientation and the current product range. That way you avoid surprises and know exactly what you are signing up for.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a solar panel installation cost on average in Mallorca?
For an average home, the cost usually ranges from 5,000 to 9,800 euros depending on the installed capacity, VAT excluded. As a reference, a 3 kW system starts at about 5,000 euros and a 7 kW system sits around 9,800. A home that wants a battery adds the corresponding capacity on top.
Are there grants for installing solar panels in the Balearic Islands?
It depends on the applicant. The 2026-2027 Balearic call does not include private individuals or self-employed persons acting as individuals in the photovoltaic programme. Eligible companies and communities can apply, and municipal rebates such as the IBI property tax reduction remain available to everyone.
How much energy does an installation produce in Mallorca?
Around 1,550 kWh per year for each installed kW, based on PVGIS reference data. A 5 kW system produces about 7,800 kWh per year, and panels keep producing over a working life of more than 25 years.
